National Design Award 2016, for “Companies”

SIMON group: “Merging aesthetic and functionality”

SIMON: Manufacturer of interfaces, electric material and technological solutions, it has won the National Design Award, in the “Companies” modality, granted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The jury highlighted “the company’s ability to introduce Design into products for everyday use.” In the words of Luis Lopezbarrena (general manager of SIMON): “we are proud of being able to add this recognition to the celebration of our one hundredth anniversary. Our motto, Simon Light Up Emotions, allows users to create ambiances with our products that awaken all kinds of emotion through Design.” ■

National Design Award 2016, for “Professionals”: Mario RuizThe group SIMON, whose main headquarters are in Barcelona, has received the National Design Award 2016 (“Companies” category), promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the Secretary of State of R+D+i. The jury valued “its long company history and great international projection, making Design and Innovation a constant company strategy.”

”Well-designed products”

Salvi Plaja, the company’s Design manager, stated that “our priority is not to make Designer products, but rather well-designed products.” And he adds: “For us, it is a challenge to invest in the Design for each project, providing comfort, safety and sustainability solutions for each setting.”

As observed by Luis Lopezbarrena, general manager of SIMON: “Our team’s effort to merge aesthetic and functionality has been acknowledged by other prestigious awards in Design, both domestic and foreign, […] Such as the Red Dot Awards, Plus X Awards, the Premios Delta, the Premio Catalunya de Ecodiseño 2015 and IF Design Awards including an IF Gold Award for our Sense line.” ■
