María Luisa Galardi, founder of the furniture company Ondarreta
María Luisa Galardi (Oiartzun,1964), founder of the furniture company Ondarreta, received the Joxe María Korta Award in honour of the professional trajectory last 22 November, "for great values of sacrifice and work." This acknowledgment, granted by the Basque Government, coincides with the company's 40th anniversary after its establishment in 1975. Its facilities lie in Oiartzun (Gipuzkoa, Spain). Its establishment and relaunch took shape over a foundation of “sustainable development,” applying “extra design and quality” to its products (tables and chairs, mainly). Read more
A successful internationalisation experience
“Basque Design Industries. Milan 2016”
Through the project “Basque Design Industries. Milan 2016”, promoted by EIDE (Association of Designers of the Basque Country/Euskadi), a group of Design teams and industrial companies attended the 55th edition of the International Furniture Fair of Milan (Salone Internazionale del Mobile) and the Design Week (Milan Design Week), from 12 through 17 April, 2016. Material ConneXion Bilbao collaborated with the initiative, and it was supported by the sponsorship of the Regional Government of Biscay, the Etxepare Basque Institute and Estudios Durero. The experience received a positive rating by Basque representatives. EIDE’s management has seen how their internationalisation programme’s objectives were met at Lombardy’s capital. Read more

The “First Graphic Design Conference” will go into handling “Corporate identity graphic trademarks” in depth. This proposal falls under the framework of the Basque Country University Summer Course Programme, acting as a space to exchange experiences between professionals, academics, researchers, companies and students related to Graphic Design. The sessions will be held from the 18th until the 20th of July, in San Sebastian. Read more
